If you have just purchased your first alpacas then you must know about a few organizations and sites that are beneficial for you to join to keep your alpacas registered and to promote your alpacas in the alpaca business.

You can find the links to these sites on our, contact us, page, while your there leave us a comment and let us know if you like our site or if there is anything else we could add to help you!

ARI (Alpaca Registry Inc.)  The ARI is where we alpaca owners  register our alpacas through DNA testing.  To be a member you must sign up and pay $14.00 a year (at the time of this writing).  When a alpaca is purchased or sold, then this site is used to transfer ownerships.  In addition, when a cria is born we submit a blood sample to the Alpaca Registry.         ARI uses advanced DNA technology to validate the parentage of the crias.  Once the crias Parentage has been validated,  ARI issues a   registration certificate That provides known lineage and assigns a unique number to each alpaca. In addition to maintaining the growing database of alpacas and DNA records, ARI manages lists of animals owned or sold by owners.  Certificates of Registration are printed and provided to owners, displaying up to five generations of ancestry.  Online queries available to ARI members can provide recorded and validated ancestry for any alpaca in the database regardless of the number of generations, as well as other information.

AOBA (Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association) this group is helpful if you are planning to show your animals or their fleeces at the many shows put on throughout the year.  Joining AOBA also gives you discounts for the shows entry fees.  Most of the regional organizations in the United States are affiliated with AOBA and most of their stipulations for shows require you to be an AOBA member.  You can become an Associate member for $75.00 annually or a Farm member for $125.00 annually (at the time of this writing).  This site also has a breeder directory and a list of regional affiliates in addition to other information that might help you.  However, the main purpose is for entering your alpacas into the shows.

AN (AlpacaNation.com) this is a wonderful and user-friendly website to begin listing your alpacas for sale.  You can also start up your own farm store there and it has many other features that are very helpful for your business.  The cost is annually and the cost depends on how many animals you will be listing.  Many alpaca breeders begin here for listing their animals.

Tripod.com-this is what your looking at now!  Our website is hosted by tripod.  I find Tripod the best in building a website easily and hosting it.  You can start out free if you can tolerate the advertisements on the page until you have your website built, then join them for a reasonable price and pay monthly and the advertisements go away.  Walla!
