IN THE SUMMER of 2005, I discovered alpacas through the Internet.
I researched these animals for months.
Late winter of 2005, My husband and I started visiting farms. By February
of 2006, I was ready for our own alpacas but I still had to convince my husband of it.
After long thought and much planning on how I was going to convince him with this new venture, I resorted
to plan A. To my amazement, my husband agreed with me and there went plan B out
the window! His comment was, "I'd rather see my investment growing in my backyard,
where I can have control over it, rather than, to have strangers who do not care about me, controlling my money, in
such a way where I cannot see, touch or feel it." Therefore, we bought our foundation herd, two males,
and two females that came with two crias and were pregnant. We brought them to
a boarding place and started planning on selling our home and getting our own little ranch.
IN THE SUMMER of 2007, we moved from a suburban location to a rural area
in Larimer
County, in the small town of Wellington,
CO. onto a beautiful 10-acre property. We have two Suris but Huacaya’s are
the focus of our breeding program.
IT IS NOW summer of 2010 and it has been a very interesting four
and a half years. We have been working very hard to make our alpaca ranch prosper and grow. In the four and a half years, we have had these wonderful creatures, we have not regretted one moment. We are convinced that this is a viable way to make a living. We
have set our standards high and with the knowledge we have gained, thus far, have come nothing short of the
goals that we have chosen for our breeding program.
OUR RANCH CONSIST of about 10 acres
of flat land pastures. We rotate our alpacas from one pasture to another during the warmer months, which helps to keep
the alpacas healthy and happy.
WE BREED FOR consistancy in Huacaya phenotype and offer them at reasonable
prices to this industry. Our breeding program is mainly based on whites, but we started
breeding for colors such as fawns, browns, blacks, and grays. We believe the quality of the fiber is more
important than the color, so we are concentrating on breeding denser fiber in our alpacas each year, while
maintaining a standard amount of softness.
WE ARE A small ranch and
take pride in knowing that we "go that extra mile" for our clients. We supply superb customer service for all our
clients, before, during, and after a sale. We are concerned about you, because without you there is no us. In
addition, we want our alpacas to be in good, loving homes. We have enough experience to guide you in making the right decision
for your alpaca life style.
WE WELCOME YOU to come out, and take a stroll through our pastures
and visit with our friendly alpacas. You might just decide you do not want
to go home - without two or three of your own!
